Age: 17

Accomplishments: Co-Northwest Region player of the year

after a 44-goal, 47-assist season. … The 5-foot-9, 160-pounder showed

an improved scoring touch and an impeccable balance between passing

and shooting. … Has played lacrosse since eighth grade, when his little

brother came out with a stick. … Also a defensiveman on North Stafford’s

hockey team, which won the 2003-04 Northern Virginia Scholastic Hockey

League. … Senior will turn 18 on Wednesday. … Will play at Hampden-Sydney,

where he plans on studying poitical science.

Most memorable moment: “Coming back against Patrick

Henry [of Roanoke] to get to the regional final.”

Who influenced you the most in lacrosse? “Richard

Burchnall, a former player at North Stafford [who was All-Area in 2002].”

What do you like most about playing lacrosse? “The

team aspect. I really like that it’s a physical team game. In that

respect, it’s a lot like hockey.”

What area have you improved the most in from last year to

this year? “My shooting. I’m not even that good at that,

but I did better this year and I was able to see more of the field.”

Accomplishments: In the last of his four years as OP’s

head coach, guided team to Cedar Run District regular-season and tournament

crowns, plus a home game against Albemarle in the regional semifinals.

… Also served five years as a Yellow Jacket assistant and played at

the school in 1991 and 1992 before joining the midfield in college at

Marymount. … Won three district titles. … Will coach next season

at Battlefield High School.

Most memorable moment: “The win over [private-school]

Highland. We’d played them before and lost by a goal after having

the lead. This time we had the lead, they came back again and we hung

on.”

 Which person influenced you the most in lacrosse?

“My college coach, Dave Webster. I use a lot of his traditions.”

What do you like most about coaching lacrosse? “The

interaction with young people to see them in a different light.”

What area have you improved the most in from last year to

this year? “Dealing with different players, winning without

that one star like we had in Patrick Bailey last year.”
