PLAYING SURFACE: Grass. A Prescription Athletic Turf field was installed in the 1980s, allowing water to be pumped out of the ground if necessary. PLAYING CHARACTERISTICS: RFK is one of the last survivors of the wave of round stadiums built in the 1960s to accommodate baseball and football. The playing field is symmetrical without any quirks requiring special ground rules. In the 1960s, the park was thought to be slightly biased in favor of pitchers, particularly during night games when fly balls didn’t appear to travel well. A generous amount of foul territory also favors pitchers. TICKETS AND PRICES: The Nationals list 16 levels of seating. In general, anything labeled a “box seat” is in the stadium’s lower deck and will cost between $20 and $45. The lower tier of the second deck, termed “Lower Reserved” is priced from $20 (infield) to $15 (foul lines) and $10 (outfield). “Upper Reserved” seats are in the second tier of the second deck and are priced at $15 (infield), $10 (foul lines) and $7 (outfield). A maximum of 20 single-game tickets can be bought online.
