Manassas Journal Messenger | Bank robber uses knife
A 30- to 35-year-old man armed with a knife robbed the Chevy Chase Bank inside the Giant Food Store at 12445 Hedges Run Road in Lake Ridge at 5:36 p.m. Tuesday, said Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman.
The man who was black, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighed 170 pounds was last seen leaving the scene in a purple Ford Taurus, Mangan said.
The 25-year-old bank teller, the victim of the robbery, told police the man was wearing a black Michael Jordan baseball cap, a bright blue hooded sweatshirt, black or dark blue running pants with a stripes on the side and white sneakers, Mangan said.
A security camera that recorded the man in the small lobby at the bank showed that he wore glasses and carried a silver flip cell phone.
Police ask that anyone with information about the robbery call Prince William County Crime solvers at (703) 670-3700. Callers do not have to leave their names or testify in court and may receive up to $1,000 for information that results in arrest.
