Manassas Journal Messenger | Man shot in leg fleeing would-be robbers

A man was shot in the leg as he ran from a group of men that asked him for money in the parking lot of a Dale City convenience store Wednesday, Prince William police said.

The 45-year-old man was walking toward the K-7 Convenience Store, 14317 Minnieville Road, at 9:05 p.m. when a group of men sitting in a car on the building’s west side yelled for him to come to the car, Detective Dennis Mangan said Thursday.

The man ignored the group, who got out of the car and surrounded him. One of the men put a gun in his face, prompting the victim to turn and run, Mangan said.

He heard a sound and realized he had been shot in the leg. He was treated and released from Potomac Hospital.

The would-be robbers are described as black, between 18 and 19 years old, Mangan said.

They left in a four-door car with Virginia license plates.
