Manassas tenant charged in theft of landlord’s SUV
Manassas police arrested a 19-year-old Manassas man Tuesday for the theft his landlord’s vehicle, said Sgt. Bill Goodman, Manassas police spokesman.
The 43-year-old landlord told police he awoke Tuesday and discovered that his 2001 Toyota Land Cruiser and its keys were missing, along with the 19-year-old who was renting a room in his house, in the 9800 block of Nichol Lane, Goodman said.
The stolen SUV was stopped by state police at 1:50 a.m. Tuesday, on Interstate 66 east near Centreville, Goodman said.
The state police arrested Luis Fernando Marroquin, charged him with reckless driving and no operator’s license, and towed the Land Cruiser, Goodman said.
The Manassas police charged Marroquin with grand larceny of a vehicle, Goodman said.
Morroquin was held in lieu of $20,000 secured bond at the Prince William-Manassas Regional Jail, Goodman said.
Incident between teen, dog under county investigation
The Prince William Animal County Animal Control is investigating an incident that occurred on Oct. 15, on Hinson Mill Lane, said Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman.
So far, police have been able to confirm that a 16-year-old boy was walking on Hinson Mill Lane, carrying some catfish in one hand and some kind of knife in the other, Mangan said.
Witnesses told police the knife appeared to be a machete, but that has not yet been confirmed, Mangan said.
A dog attacked the and the teen cut the dog several times. The dog bit the boy’s wrist, Mangan said.
36-year-old man charged in construction site attack
Prince William police arrested a 36-year-old Yorkshire area man after he hit a 43-year-old co-worker on the head with a shovel during an argument over a white, 5-gallon bucket, said Detective Dennis Mangan
The argument occurred at the end of Gunston Hall Road at the construction site near Forest Park High School, between 7:30 and 8 a.m. Tuesday, Mangan said.
Police charged Carlos Humeto, of 7471 Tendring Trail with malicious wounding, Mangan said.
