Manassas Journal Messenger | Suspect in attempted murder brought to Prince William County
A suspect in an attempted murder in Manassas Park was arrested in Louisa County on Aug. 19, according to a search warrant affidavit filed in Prince William County Circuit Court on Wednesday.
Joshua Allen Dillard is charged with attempted murder here, according to the affidavit.
He is a suspect in a shooting during which Dillard’s alleged accomplice, known as “D,” fired shots at a man as he ran away on May 17. It is unclear where the shooting took place, or whether anyone was shot.
Manassas Park police were unable to answer requests for information from the Potomac News and Manassas Journal Messenger on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The case investigator is in Ohio, a department spokeswoman said.
Dillard told Manassas Park detectives that “D” always carries a firearm.
Police searched his home on Lambert Drive while looking for evidence to build a case on the following charges: attempted murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a felon and discharge of a firearm on school property.
Dillard, also known as “Peanut,” was transferred to the Prince William-Manassas regional jail from Louisa County on Monday.
Dillard denied requests for a telephone interview on Friday and said he wanted to consult with his attorney before making a statement.
Reports of a shooting at Costello Park several months ago concerned members of the northern part of the city. Costello Park, adjacent to the city’s border with Prince William County, is next to Manassas Park Elementary School. Police said they were unsure whether a shooting had taken place.
The Louisa County Sheriff could not be reached for comment Friday.
