Connie B. Beckner

Connie B. Beckner, 89, of Manassas died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at Annaburg Manor.

She was born April 17, 1912, in Boston, the daughter of the late Antonio and Emma Bellere.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert O. Beckner Sr.

Survivors include her son, Gilbert O. Beckner Jr. and his wife, Charlene, of Manassas; a sister, Clara Hoag of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two grandchildren, Jeffrey C. Beckner of Arlington and Cynthia A. Beckner of Manassas; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Blasius-Baker Funeral Home, 9320 West St., Manassas. Entombment will follow at Ft. Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, Md., at 1:30 p.m.

Edward Carter

Edward Monk Carter, 78, of Warrenton died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at Avante Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Harrisonburg.

He was born Aug. 6, 1923.

He is survived by his daughter, Ann Fairfax of Warrenton; a sister, Harriet Saunders of The Plains; a brother, John Carter Jr. of Gainesville; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday until service time at 11 a.m. at Joynes Funeral Home, 29 N. Third St., Warrenton, the Rev. David Carter officiating. Interment will be at Solon Cemetery, Middleburg.

Jamie L. Fallon

Jamie Lynn Fallon, 23, of Woodbridge died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, at the Pentagon.

She attended Osbourn Park High School. She was a storekeeper 3rd class assigned to the Pentagon and served in the U.S. Navy for over six years. She was a life member of the VFW Post 1503 in Dale City and will be truly missed by her son, family, and friends.

She is survived by her son, Kahleb Michael Fallon; her parents, Michael and Patricia Fallon of Woodbridge; a brother, Michael Fallon Jr. of Amherst, Mass.; a sister, Teresa Steinbach of Fredericksbur; a niece, Alexa Steinbach; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Quantico Marine Corps Base Chapel, Quantico.

Interment with full military honors will follow at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle.

Geraldine H. Hennessy

Geraldine Howard Hennessy, 87, widow of John F. Hennessy, of Manassas died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001.

She was a graduate of Salem State Teachers College, Salem, Mass., in the 1930s and worked in public and private primary education throughout her life. She retired from Arlington County Public Schools in 1981.

She is survived by four daughters; one son; one niece; one nephew; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She leaves behind many friends and family.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Birmingham Green Nursing Home, Manassas.

Arrangements are by Lee Funeral Home of Manassas.

Preston Jacobs Jr.

Preston Jacob Jr., 32, of Midland died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001 at Fauquier Hospital, Warrenton.

Survivors include two sisters, Theresa A. Sloan of Midland and Sue A. Jacobs of Dale City; and three brothers, Adam S. Jacobs and Maurice E. Jacobs, both of Manassas, and Brian L. Jacobs of Midland.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Price Funeral Home, 9609 Center St., Manassas, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Wes Shortridge officiating. Interment will follow at Dumfries Cemetery, Dumfries.

John J. McCarthy

John Joseph McCarthy, 50, of Mathias, W.Va., formerly of Manassas, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001.

He is survived by one daughter, Sonia M. McCarthy; his mother, Esther M. McCarthy; six brothers and sisters, Mary C. Welch, Anna Marie Saah, Robert F. McCarthy, Judith M. Fulton, Michael J. McCarthy and David K. McCarthy; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Price Funeral Home, 9609 Center St., Manassas. A funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints Catholic Church, 9300 Stonewall Road, Manassas, with the Rev. Joseph R. Kenna officiating. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, followed by a reception at All Saints Catholic Church.

Connie Sturgeon

Connie Sturgeon of Goldvein died Saturday, 0ct. 6, 2001, at her residence.

She was a member of Community Christian Church.

She is survived by her husband, Roger L. Sturgeon of Goldvein; four daughters, Torri Kerns of Rappahanock Academy, LeeAnne Roberts of Sumerduck, Sherroll McCahn of Fredericksburg and Adrienne Sturgeon of Ladysmith; three sons, Robert Sturgeon of Goldvein, Spencer Sturgeon of Ladysmith and Roger Sturgeon of Falmouth; and two brothers, Tommy Corbin of Goldvein and Charles Barb of Romney, W.Va.; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Moser Funeral Home, 233 Broadview Ave., Warrenton. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Grove Baptist Church, Goldvein, the Rev. Allen Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Charles E. Williams

Charles Emery Williams, 82, of Triangle died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at Potomac Hospital, Woodbridge.

He was a member and deacon of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Triangle. He served in World War II and retired from the U.S. government.

He was preceded in death by a son, Leonard E. Williams.

He is survived by his wife, Reese Mae Williams of Triangle; one son, Vernon W. Williams Sr. of Dumfries; six grandchildren; two sisters, Drucilla Roy of Alexandria and Odessa Scott of Triangle; one brother, Larry Williams of Triangle; and many other relatives and friends.

Friends will be received at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 18410 Chapel Drive, Triangle, where funeral services will be conducted at noon, the Rev. Dr. Alfred Jones Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle.

Arrangements are by Ames Funeral Home, Manassas.
