Manassas Journal Messenger | Boy in stable condition after being pinned under car

A 7-year-old boy was pinned under a car Sunday after being hit by a drunk driver fleeing a concerned citizen who was chasing him, Prince William police said Monday.

Neighbors who witnessed the accident teamed together to lift the car off the boy. He was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he is in stable condition, police said.

Fuhard M. Kaloko, 21, of 3806 Delmar Drive in Dale City, was charged with driving under the influence, hit and run and driving with a suspended license, Detective Dennis Mangan said.

The chase began when Kaloko was involved in a hit and run accident Birchdale Avenue in Dale City at 6:35 p.m., police said.

A citizen chased Kaloko to Bremerton Drive, where the suspect drove onto a curb to escape, hitting the boy, Mangan said. Neighborhood residents chased him when he got out to run, cornering Kaloko until police were able to arrive, Mangan said.

Kaloko is being held at the Prince William-Manassas regional jail without bond.
