Amelia V. Fields

Amelia Virginia Fields, 46, of Dumfries, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Nathaniel and Mildred Waters. She was raised by Minnie Dennis and the late Joseph Dennis.

She was a member of First Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Dumfries.

She is survived by her husband, William H. Fields Sr. of Dumfries; one son, William H. Fields Jr. of Dumfries; one daughter, Shantell R. Fields of Montgomery, Ala.; her sisters and brothers, Ophelia Waters of Salisbury, Md., Gregory Waters and Dorothy Waters Jones, both of Princess Anne, Md., and Anzell Walker of Randolph, N.J.; her grandmother, Lula Benson of Randolph, N.J.; and many other relatives and friends.

Friends will be received at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 16622 Dumfries Road, Dumfries, where funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., the Rev. Dr. Luke Torian officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington National Cemetery.

Clara Hoffman

Clara Hoffman, 84, of Manassas, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, at Prince William Hospital, Manassas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Hoffman.

She is survived by her children, Geraldine Hoffman Smith, Earline Hoffman, Bernice Holloman, Loretta Hoffman and Harold Hoffman; her sister, Myrtle Petty; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon service time Saturday at Lee Funeral Home, 8521 Sudley Road, Manassas. Burial will be held at Wellspring Church Cemetery in North Carolina.

Charles W. Kenny

Charles William “Buck” Kenny, 54, of Manassas, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at his residence.

He served in the Vietnam War and was awarded two Bronze Stars and a Vietnam Services Medal.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce H. Kenny of Manassas; three sons, Bobby E. Boykin of Chantilly, Charles W. Kenny Jr. of Manassas and Edward L. Kenny of Manassas; a daughter, Kathy E. Welch of Manassas; two brothers, John Kenny of Manassas and Jack Kenny of Catlett; his sisters, Suzie Bailey of Haymarket, Mary Sibert of Strasburg, Shirley Bowers of Toms Brook and Lucy Garman of Manassas; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Lee Funeral Home, 8521 Sudley Road, Manassas. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at Pender United Methodist Church, 12401 Alder Woods Drive, Fairfax. Interment will follow at National Memorial Park.

Gary A. Lee

Gary A. Lee, 54, of Stafford, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, after a brief illness.

He was born Sept. 10, 1947, in Shreveport, La. He had been a corrections officer with the Federal Bureau of Prisons and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Michel Lee; two sisters, Patricia Ocker of Oro Valley, Ariz., and Gayle Salam of Smyrna, Ga.; and one niece.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. William of York Catholic Church, Stafford, the Rev. Paul Eversole officiating. Burial will be private.

Virginia A. Marbaker

Virginia Ann “Ginger” Marbaker, 46, of Stafford, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at her residence.

She was born June 4, 1955, in Syracuse, N.Y. She was a service clerk for Giant Food in Alexandria. She was a member of the Fredericksburg Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 4123 and the Fredericksburg Loyal Order of the Moose, No. 1655, auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lorraine Marbaker, and a sister, Debbie King.

She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Marbaker; one daughter, Melissa M. Marbaker of Stafford; three sons, Robert E. Marbaker Jr. of Kenmore, N.Y., Timothy W. Marbaker of Woodbridge and Chad A. Marbaker of Stafford; her father, Thomas Morrissette of Syracuse, N.Y.; a sister, Denise Tierney of Syracuse; one half-sister, Pam Morrissette of Syracuse; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Mullins & Thompson Stafford Chapel, where a funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, the Rev. Lucian Marbaker officiating. Interment will follow at Dumfries Cemetery.

Robert J. Maxwell

Robert James Maxwell, 53, of Manassas, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, at the Pentagon in Arlington.

He was a graduate of the University of Texas and was employed with the federal government for 29 years.

Survivors include his wife, Dr. Karen H. Greenberg; one son, Tanner R. Maxwell of Manassas; his father, Ernest Maxwell of Austin; and two sisters, Beverly Graf of Austin, Texas, and Busanan Maxwell of Palmdale, Calif.

A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday with a visitation to follow until 9 p.m. at Price Funeral Home, 9609 Center St., Manassas, with Dr. Larry L. Lee officiating. Interment will be private.

Patricia Mickley

Patricia E. (Patty) Dillaber Mickley died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, a victim of the attack on the Pentagon where she worked.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Dillaber; two sisters, Anne Youngblood and Katherine Dillaber; one brother, John Dillaber; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Nativity, 6400 Nativity Lane, Burke. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Arlington National Cemetery, Section 64 overlooking the Pentagon.

Friends and associates are encouraged to attend a buffet luncheon following the burial at the Springfield Hilton, 6550 Loisdale Road, Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Nativity or to Sangster Elementary School, 7420 Reservation Drive, Springfield, VA 22153.

Melissa C. Petteway

Melissa Carol Petteway, 23, of Stafford, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg.

She was born Aug. 3, 1978, in Myrtle Beach, S.C. She was a clerk at FasMart in Stafford and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by a son, Colin Patrick Petteway of the home; her mother, Patricia Jenkins Petteway of Stafford; her father, Samuel V. Petteway of Greensboro, N.C.; three sisters, Amy C. Walters of Wood-bridge, Dawn C. Kestner of Manas-sas and Brittany E. Smith of Stafford; her maternal grandmother, Gladys Jenkins of Wilmington, N.C.; and her paternal grandmother, Blanche Petteway of Greensboro.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Mullins & Thompson Stafford Chapel. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Garrisonville Ward, Bishop Roger Kulbeth officiating. Interment will be in Greensboro.

Surjit K. Rathore

Surjit Kaur Rathore of Woodbridge died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at Washington Hospital Center.

She was a member of the Sikh religion of India.

She is survived by her husband, Gurcharan Rathore; her children, Sarbjit and Bhupinder Rathore and Raminder Chohan; two brothers and four sisters; and 12 grandchildren.

A cremation service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge.

George R. Schiefer

Retired U.S. Army Capt. George R. Schiefer, 83, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, in Richmond.

He was a 37-year Prince William County resident.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Schiefer; two daughters, Ann Schiefer Bishop of Denver and Sandra K. Horne of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sons, James E. Schiefer of Alexandria and Steve Lowman of Richmond; one sister, Helen Haines; one brother, Paul Shiefer of Lansdale, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Mountcastle Funeral Home, 13318 Occoquan Road, Woodbridge, where a funeral service will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Friday, the Rev. Paul Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, with honors.

Cheryle Sincock

Cheryle Sincock, 53, of Dale City, died at the Pentagon on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001.

She was a civil service employee for 15 years.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 25 years, Chief Warrant Officer Five Craig W. Sincock; her mother, Francis Thedans of Avoca, Minn.; four children, Debra Templin of Dale City, Stacey Foubare of Garrisonville, Michelle Miller of Dale City and William Mitchell, stationed in Korea; six grandchildren; and 10 siblings, Janet, Sharon, Mary, Sandy, Rhonda, Kevin, David, Jerome, Mark and Dennis.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at First United Presbyterian Church of Dale City, 14391 Minnieville Road, Dale City, with burial to follow at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle.

Evelyn T. Sistrunk

Evelyn T. Sistrunk, 75, of Louisiana, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001.

She had lived in Baton Rouge, La., since 1965. She was valedictorian of Okaloosa High School and graduated at the top of her class from Louisiana State University in 1947. She began working for the Teachers Retirement System in 1968, where she was manager of the benefits department. She retired after 31 years of service to the system. She was a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church, where she served on several boards.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Laurice Sistrunk; her parents, Pat and Annie Tinsley; a brother, Dick Tinsley; and a sister, Gladys Russell.

She is survived by her brother, Bobby Tinsley of West Monroe, La.; and two children, Larry Sistrunk of Manassas and Lynn Sistrunk of Baton Rouge, La.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Greenoaks Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Children’s Home, the American Diabetes Association or the Laurie Sistrunk Scholarship at LSU.

Dianne Summers

Dianne Slanoc Summers, 57, of Manassas, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at Prince William Hospital, Manassas.

She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Manassas and was employed with the Department of Juvenile Justice, 31st District Court Service Unit, Commonwealth of Virginia with 20 years service.

Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Wayne A. Summers; one son, Craig A. Summers of Ashburn; three sisters, Margaret Garanich of Brecksville, Ohio, Barbara Graves of Hobart, Ind., and Nancy Sorrell of Bartlesville, Okla.; five brothers, Charles Slanoc of Portage, Ind., Steve Slanoc of Lorain, Ohio, Robert Slanoc of Twinsburg, Ohio, Andrew Slanoc of Sagamore Hills, Ohio, and Martin Slanoc of Ehrenfeld, Pa.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Price Funeral Home, 9609 Center St., Manassas. The funeral liturgy will be offered at 1 p.m. Thursday at All Saints Catholic Church, 9300 Stonewall Road, Manassas, the Rev. Robert C. Cilinski officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church Cemetery, St. Michael, Pa.
