Burglars set sights on gun range
Burglars broke into Shooters Paradise, a gun shop and shooting range in Marumsco Plaza on U.S. 1, between 2:58 and 3:21 p.m. Friday and stole four hand guns, said Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William Police spokesman.
The burglars cut a lock on a steel door, raised the door, broke a window and went in the store, Mangan said.
Brent Bordeaux, the gun shop owner, said this is the first time his store has been robbed, but the burglary has him thinking twice.
“We’ve been in business for over 10 years and this is the first time anything like this has ever happened to me,” Bordeaux said.
“People just aren’t any good anymore,” Bordeaux said. “The whole thing is disheartening.”
Bordeaux said the police arrived soon after the security system at the store set off an alarm.
“I think the police happened to drive by just after the alarm system went off. We were on the way over ourselves, so we probably only missed them by a couple of minutes,” he said.
Bordeaux said he will take action to prevent future burglaries at his shop.
“I’m not planning on this happening again. I’m taking further measures,” Bordeaux said.
