Police briefs for Wednesday, July 17, 2002
A 47-year-old man was assaulted with a plastic milk crate and robbed of his wallet at the Exxon parking lot at Dumfries Road and Richmond Avenue about 9 a.m. Saturday, Manassas police said Tuesday.
The victim was approached by three men. One man demanded money but the victim kept on walking. The men followed and, as they crossed Grant Avenue, one man threw the crate at the victim, striking him in the face, police said.
One of the suspects stole the man’s wallet from his rear pants pocket.
The robbers fled the area on foot in the direction of Georgetown South, police said.

Man approached by armed cyclists near Manassas
A 39-year-old man was approached by two armed men on bicycles at the intersection of Irongate Way and Shiloh Court near Manassas about 7:30 a.m. Monday, Prince William police spokesman Dennis Mangan said.
The man was waiting for a ride to work when two men rode up to him. One man held a handgun. Before the victim relinquished anything, a car pulled up and the pair rode away.
Boy, 12, held at knifepoint on Kerrydale Road
A 14-year-old boy tried to rob a 12-year-old boy at knifepoint as he walked along Kerrydale Road in Dale City about 8:20 p.m. Monday, Prince William police spokesman Dennis Mangan said.
The 14-year-old demanded money but the victim didn’t have any.
Petitions are pending against the teen, Mangan said.
Sebring taken while parked on Princeton Park Drive
A 1998 Chrysler Sebring coupe was stolen sometime between 10:30 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday while it was parked in the 8900 block of Princeton Park Drive, Manassas police said Tuesday.
The 49-year-old owner told the police that she left her keys in the car, and it was unlocked.
The car is valued at $5,000 and had Virginia plates, YHN-9644.
