Man returns to body shop six months later; business closed, car missing

A man who left his 1974 El Camino at Euclid Auto Body, at 9101 Euclid Ave., for repairs on Feb. 1 returned on Wednesday to find that the body shop had gone out of business and his car was gone, said Sgt. Marc Woolverton, Manassas police spokesman, on Friday.

The man looked around and found his car parked in the 9000 block of Euclid Avenue. The car was missing its hood and a set of chrome Corvette rims and tires worth an estimated $2,280, Woolverton said.

Manassas man injured in accident at I-66 ramp

A Manassas man was injured in an accident at about 4:40 a.m. Friday near the intersection of Va. 28 and Interstate 66 in Fairfax County, a Fairfax county police press release showed.

Robert L. Proctor, 56, of 8123 Community Drive in Manassas was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital with a concussion, broken ribs and chest injuries after the accident, the release stated.

Witnesses told police that a woman driving a 1995 Mitsubishi Galant sedan was attempting to make a left turn from Va. 28 onto the eastbound entrance ramp of I-66 when Proctor, driving a 1993 Mercury sedan, struck her car.

The witnesses said Juanita P Alford, 46, of Sterling had the green arrow in her favor when she attempted to make the left turn. Proctor was in stable condition, according to the press release.

Three purses stolen from Oakenshaw Drive home

A 47-year-old Manassas woman told police someone entered her house sometime late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning and stole three purses from the family room of her home in the 9500 block of Oakenshaw Drive, said Sgt. Marc Woolverton, Manassas police spokesman, on Friday.

The purses contained a palm personal digital assistant, a 35mm camera and money.

There were no signs of forced entry to the home and the woman told police the garage door may have been left open.

Manassas boy reports remote-control cars stolen

An 11-year-old Manassas boy told police that someone entered the open garage of his house in the 9500 block of Lehr Court on Tuesday afternoon and stole two gasoline-powered, radio-remote-control cars, worth $770, said Sgt. Woolverton, Manassas police spokesman, on Friday.

The boy told police one of the cars was a Mugen Seiki M5x3 and the other a Traxxas Tmax. The remote control of the Traxxas was stolen as well, Woolverton said.

Manassas man in hit and run in Fairfax County

Fairfax County police arrested a 27-year-old Manassas man after he drove across a yellow line on Patrick Henry Drive in Falls Church in his 1987 Toyota, struck a 1992 Chevrolet minivan and ran from the scene, a Fairfax Police press release stated.

Fairfax police Officer Edgar Ipina saw the accident. He arrested Elivd Alvarado, of 9406 Westmoreland Ave., the release said.

The 34-year-old driver of the van and his 35-year-old passenger were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Alvarado was charged with felony hit and run, driving while intoxicated, and driving without a license, the press release said.

Alvarado was held on an undetermined bond, according to the release.

Woodbridge woman attacked while leaving car

A 24-year-old Woodbridge woman was attacked from behind as she left her car and walked to her house in the 3500 block of Melrose Avenue, near Graham Park High School, at about 3 a.m. Friday, said Detective Dennis Mangan Prince William police spokesman.

The woman told police that the assailant who took her purse and ran toward Graham Park and Cabin roads was a black man with very short hair, 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 220 pounds. The man was wearing blue jeans shorts and a red polo shirt, Mangan said.

Bicycle stolen from Estate Drive shed in Dale City

A backyard shed at a home in the 14600 block of Estate Drive in Dale City was burglarized Thursday between 7:25 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., said Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman, on Friday.

A red Huffy 10-speed bicycle was stolen from the shed. The rear window of another shed on the property was broken, but no entry was gained to the second building, Mangan said.
