Who said nothing in life is free?
LifeFest 05 – a free community family event – will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Taking place at the former Hayloft Dinner Theatre and now the Elks Lodge, 10501 Balls Ford Road, Manassas, LifeFest is an event that offers food, games, entertainment and gently used items at no cost to the public.
The featured activity is the giving away of all donated items, such as toys, clothing, car seats, strollers, infant seat, books, videos, DVDs, compact discs, furniture, small appliances and decorative and kitchen items.
KidsFest will include puppet shows, free carnival games, a moon bounce and face painting. Every child in attendance will receive a free backpack filled with school supplies.
The food tent will offer free hot dogs, chicken wings and beverages, so those in attendance can grab some lunch and listen to live music and special entertainment numbers at the show stage.
LifeFest is sponsored by Washington Christian Life Centre, where David and Jo Ann Baird, senior pastors, are spearheading this event.
“Our church is here to serve our great community and this is one way we believe we can do this,” said David Baird. “We have a whole team of people from our church who are working hard to make this day enjoyable and impacting for all who attend.” The event is a first come, first serve while supplies last.
The Manassas Host Lioness Lions Club and Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage are teaming up to collect non-perishable items for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Suggested items include clean clothing for all ages, toiletries, baby items, school supplies, shoes, toys, books, slippers and blankets.
Collections points include the three Coldwell offices, Prince William Association of Realtors, Manassas Police Department, J.E. Rice, Tommy’s Place Restaurant and Domino’s Pizza, 10528 Lomond Drive, Manassas.
The donated items will be sent to the four states hit by the hurricane and distributed by the Lions Clubs in those areas to the needy.
