Manassas Journal Messenger | D.C. cultural center to show pope’s funeral
The funeral of Pope John Paul II will be shown continuously at the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center in Washington, D.C., from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, Saturday and Sunday.
“The cultural center is making this opportunity available for people who cannot see it live at 4 a.m. and would otherwise miss this historic spiritual event,” said Monsignor William A. Kerr, executive director of the center. “Visitors have expressed interest in viewing the Holy Father’s funeral as a shared experience.”
The broadcast of the funeral will be shown in the main Pope John Paul II Theater. A biographical video about John Paul II may be viewed in the orientation theatre.
Thousands of mourners have already visited the cultural center to write personal condolences in more than a dozen condolence books. Condolence books will be available throughout the weekend and into the following week as long as need be.
The Pope John Paul II Cultural Center is located at 3900 Harewood Road NE, Washington, D.C.
