Manassas Journal Messenger | What’s On Tap

Carol Whitton, coordinator of the Fairfax County Genealogical Society’s German Special Interest Group, will share her expertise in locating European immigrants’ ancestral villages in a free genealogy program from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Using a German example, Whitton will demonstrate how to determine which records lead to an immigrant’s place of birth, and discuss alternative records to try if the “usual sources” aren’t available.

The program is a session of the Genealogy Resources Users Group, which meets monthly to describe and demonstrate resources and techniques for the family historian.

To register for the free program, stop by the library at 8051 Ashton Ave., Manassas, or call (703) 792-4540.
