Manassas Journal Messenger | Shooting victims’ names released

Cledis Rodriguez, a Prince William County school bus driver, was a model worker who will be missed, said her supervisor Allison Rush.

Rodriguez, 30, was killed by a relative of her husband’s Thursday afternoon at her house at 10106 Lomond Drive, said Sgt. Kim Chinn, Prince William police spokeswoman.

Police believe Pedro Joel Velasquez, 23, shot Rodriguez and then shot himself.

A motive for the shootings has not been established, Chinn said.

When Rodriguez, a school bus driver since 2001, didn’t show up for her afternoon shift Thursday, other bus drivers went to her house to find out if she was okay, said Rush.

Rodriguez drove her bus on the morning shift Thursday.

“For us to notice that she wasn’t here for only one run and have everybody concerned, tells you what kind of employee she was,” Rush said.

The drivers found Rodriguez and Velasquez inside the house at 3:45 p.m. and called police, Chinn said.

Rodriguez was adored by the kindergarten class she took to Loch Lomond Elementary School every school day, Rush said.

Rodriguez’s neighbors said they didn’t know the family all that well.

A police detective at the Rodriguez house Friday afternoon said family members did not wish to comment.
