Planning for a look back …
Marty Hiatt, a certified genealogical records specialists, will be a guest speaker on March 22 and explain how and where original, microfilmed and published information about families from Northern Virginia can be found today.
The program is a session of the Genealogy Resources Users Group. The group is sponsored by the Ruth E. Lloyd Information Center for Genealogy and Local History, a department of the Prince William Public Library System and supported by the Friends of the Central and Bull Run Libraries.
The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Bull Run Regional Library, 8051 Ashton Ave., Manassas.
Hiatt is editor of “Northern Virginia Genealogy.”
“The Harvesters,” a gospel music group from North Carolina, will perform at Grace United Methodist Church on April 2 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free but a free-will offering can be made.

Lindy Garnette, executive director of Securing Emergency Resources through Volunteer Efforts Inc., reports that someone in an unmarked truck has been driving in the area picking up furniture and other items in the name of SERVE. Garnette said all of the SERVE trucks are clearly marked and donations should only be made to them.
Historic Manassas Inc. will kick off its Partners Membership Drive on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a reception at Jake’s Seafood Restaurant, 9412 Main St., Manassas. There will be a door prize and other surprises.
What is happening at Central Community Library? Have the librarians run amok? It’s March Madness.
Prince William County residents are invited to come to the library anytime on Thursday and see how many offbeat, unusual, bizarre or just wacky things they can discover. Then they can fill out an entry form for a chance at winning a prize. The event is for everyone and there is no registration required.
