Manassas Journal Messenger | Pizza delivery man shot during robbery
A Pizza Hut delivery man was shot in the chest and suffered a non life-threatening wound after he was turned away from a home in the 3600 block of Golf Side Circle in Lake Ridge, Prince William police said Monday.
When the 45-year-old delivery man knocked on the door, the residents told him they never ordered a pizza. As he was leaving, four men tried to rob him, Prince William police said Monday.
He was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
Two of the assailants are described as white men between 18 and 20 years old.
A third robber is described as a light-skinned black man, about 6 feet 6 inches tall with black hair that was brushed straight back. That man wore a crew-neck sweater, beige pants and light brown shoes.
A fourth assailant is described as black, wearing a blue jean jacket, blue jeans and tennis shoes. Police said he is about 5 feet 7 inches tall and has a medium build. He was wearing a black ski mask.
The group ran off on foot, police said. The shooting occurred in an area near the edge of Lake Ridge Park, off the north end of Smoketown Road.
A manager at the Dillingham Square pizza shop said he was not allowed to comment on the incident.
Pizza Hut?s Director of Public Relations Patty Sullivan said the driver was at home resting Monday and doing well. Drivers are trained to surrender when confronted because ?there is nothing worth their lives,? Sullivan said.
An order was placed to the address from which the delivery driver was turned away. Sullivan does not know if the call was intentionally deceitful or a mistake.
