Obituaries for February 23, 2002
David Poole Kite, 69, of Harrisonburg, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 6, 1932, in Page County, the son of the late Floyd Seldon and Annie Laurie Furry Kite. He was a member of Bridgewater United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He earned his master’s degree from James Madison University. He was a teacher and principal for 35 years, beginning his career at Shenandoah High School teaching social studies. In retirement, he worked for B. Ney’s Department Store.
He is survived by a number of cousins.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Kyger and Trobaugh Funeral Home, 903 S. Main St., Harrisonburg, where a funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, the Rev. Carroll Goodridge officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Bridgewater.
