Police Briefs for Nov. 22
A 17-year-old girl was assaulted in a Michaels Arts and Crafts store at 10828 Sudley Manor Drive in Manassas Monday at 8:25 p.m., Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman, said Thursday.
The girl was working near a back office when a blunt object was stuck in her back. She was then struck on the cheek and knocked out, Mangan said.
The attempted robber is described as a male wearing a gray sweater.
He fled on foot.
Boy takes girl’s wallet while she sat in car
A 17-year-old girl was sitting in her car in a parking lot at 13900 Jefferson Davis Highway on Wednesday at 9:01 p.m. when a boy reached into her car, took her wallet and ran away, Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman, said Thursday.
Officers set up a perimeter in the area and spotted the boy walking on the road.
He has been charged with strong-arm robbery and is being held in the juvenile detention center with no bond.
Virginia law prohibits police from releasing the names of juveniles charged with crimes.
Man exposes himself
to 11-year-old girl
A man exposed himself to an 11-year-old girl in the 8000 block of Urbanna Road in Manassas Monday at 8:30 p.m., Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman, said Thursday.
The man was white, 5 feet 6 inches with a thin build and wore jeans, a green jacket and brown belt.
Neighbor charged with burglary in Lake Jackson
A 38-year-old man noticed that someone had been cutting wires and stealing copper pipes from a home he owns in the 11600 block of Thunder Drive in Lake Jackson, Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman, said Thursday.
He reported the incidents to police on Monday. The man went through the home with police after noticing a basement door forced open.
Neighbor James Warren Whistlman, 43, of 11670 Thunder Drive was hiding behind a hot water heater, Mangan said. He had a screwdriver, wire cutters and gloves.
He has been charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools.
Computer equipment stolen from trailer
Appliances and computer equipment were stolen from a U.S. Home Corporation construction trailer in the 12700 block of Leadnock Way in Manassas, Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman, said Thursday.
A total of $634 worth of property was stolen between Saturday at 5 p.m. and Monday at 6 a.m., Mangan said.
Paintball equipment,
cash taken from home
Assorted paintball equipment was stolen from a home in the 12600 block of Kahns Road in the Algonquin Hills area Nov. 15 between 12 and 1 p.m., Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman, said Thursday.
Fourteen dollars in cash were also stolen. The missing items total $274.
