Cherry Hill teen chases two intruders from home, recovers stolen property

CHERRY HILL A 16-year-old boy chased two intruders out of his home on the 17300 block of Kildare Lane on Wednesday, causing them the drop the video-game system and games that they had stolen from the house, police said Thursday.

The teen had just left for work when he remembered that he had left something in the house, police said. He returned and heard noises in his basement and then saw two burglars run out of the rear basement door, which was their point of entry, police said.

The victim chased them out the back door, causing the burglars to drop a backpack that held a Sony PlayStation and five games worth a total of $550, police said.

U.S. marshal from Manassas charged with burglary

HERNDON Fairfax County police arrested a deputy U.S. marshal from Manassas for entering a Herndon home and attempting to take information off an acquaintances computer Wednesday morning, police said Thursday.

Deputy U.S. Marshal Robert Brandt, 34, obtained a key that allowed him to enter the home while his friend was away at around 11:15 a.m., police said.

Police, responding to a call, found Brandt in the home, arrested him and charged him with burglary and computer trespassing. He was released in lieu of a $10,000 unsecured bond, police said.

Man assaulted, robbed outside Potomac Mills mall

WOODBRIDGE A 19-year-old man was assaulted and robbed of his cigarettes outside of Vans Skatepark in the 2700 block of Potomac Mills Circle on Wednesday, Prince William County police said Thursday.

The robber, described as a 18- to 20-year-old black man, 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighing approximately 160 pounds and wearing a gray coat with a fur collar, a white shirt, dark pants and Timberland boots, approached the victim, grabbed him in a choke hold and punched him in the face before stealing his cigarettes, police said.

Dale City man mildly injured in two-car collision

POHICK A Dale City man was mildly injured late Wednesday afternoon after a woman slammed her Saturn into his van on Telegraph Road, Fairfax County Police said Thursday.

Khiem Nguyen, 27, of 3104 Adams St., suffered lacerations after Rebecca Gasett, of 8514 Ash Grove Road in Vienna, crashed into him, making a left-hand turn at the intersection of Telegraph Road and Lockport Place, police said.

Gasett was taken by air to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where she is being treated for serious injuries, police said.
