Manassas pavilion open for private functions

MANASSAS — The events coordinator for Historic Manassas Inc. wants area residents to know that the Loy E. Harris Pavilion is available for private functions.

“It’s the first year that we’re doing it. So it’s new to everyone,” Lee Avery said. The pavilion opened for summer events May 3.

The pavilion is open for events from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. every day until Oct. 31.

For half a day of use, fees for the pavilion are $250 for nonprofit organizations, $250 for Manassas residents staging a private social event, $500 for non-Manassas residents staging a private social event; and $750 for for-profit organizations.

Fees for a full day are $350 for nonprofit organizations; $350 for Manassas residents staging a private social event; $750 for non-Manassas residents staging a private social event; and $1,000 for for-profit corporations.

City- and school-sponsored events are exempt from fees. City events already scheduled include the Public Service Appreciation Banquet on June 14 and Independence Day celebrations.

Historic Manassas Inc. plans to have a schedule of events posted today on its Web site, http://www.harrispavilion.com.

“[The pavilion is] right in the heart of Old Town. So it has wonderful accommodations and services for people inside and outside of Manassas,” Avery said.

Those interested in reserving time at the pavilion should call Avery at (703) 361-6599.
