Man charged with fondling girl
Faredin Hyseni was taken into custody at the Georgetown South Shopping Center after officers obtained a felony warrant for his arrest. The assault took place on a sidewalk at the intersection of Byrd Drive and Beech Place, according to police.
Two men who live near the victim told authorities that at approximately 12:50 p.m. they saw Hyseni kneel on one knee to kiss and fondle the girl. They then followed the man to the shopping center where they called police.
Sgt. Marc Woolverton, a police spokesman, said the victim was not related to Hyseni, who lives in her neighborhood. Hyseni said he lives on Byrd Drive, but did not know the address.
“We have a lead as to where he may have been living in the neighborhood,” Woolverton said. “He told us he was living on Byrd Drive, but would not say where.” Woolverton said the police have reason to believe that Hyseni did not live on Byrd Drive, but that they believe he resides in the neighborhood.
Hyseni is being held without bond in the Prince William-Manassas regional jail. A hearing is pending in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
The witnesses live on Byrd Drive near the victim, and knew her. Virginia law prohibits police from releasing witness’ names.
