Roadway Inn employee charged with embezzlement

Roadway Inn at 13964 Jefferson Davis Highway in Woodbridge has fired an employee — who was arrested Wednesday — after the Hampton-based chain that owns the motel accused her of stealing $66.69, according to manager Mary Holmes.

Mary Sullivan, 42, of 134 East Cherry Street in Palmyar, Pa., was charged with embezzlement, said Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman. Sullivan has worked with the Allen Management-owned chain for a few months.

“The corporate office wants it known that our management will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law,” Holmes said. “We will not back off.”

The hard-line policy is intended as an example to employees at the company’s 17 other properties, Holmes said, after she contacted the Potomac News and Manassas Journal Messenger to publicly report the alleged theft.
