MANASSAS — Police are charging a 21-year-old Manassas man with involuntary manslaughter following an accident in which a 22-year-old passenger was killed.
Christopher Dittrich, 21, of 8202 Lomond Drive, was driving west on Wellington Road at speeds of more than 100 mph in a 45 mph zone just before 2 a.m. on Wednesday when he lost control of his vehicle on a curve near Hayden Road, said Sgt. Kim Chinn, Prince William police spokesman. The car spun around and flipped several times before crashing into a drainage ditch on the side of the road, she said.
As the car flipped, front passenger Michael Able of 11017 Edge Park Circle, Apt. 102, was ejected from the car. He was not wearing a seat belt, she said.
Abel was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he died of multiple injuries Thursday morning, Chinn said.
A third person was in the back seat of the car but was not seriously injured, she said.
