Police briefs for Wednesday, June 5, 2002
Prince William County police Monday arrested a man who they say had both a previously stolen golden necklace and marijuana on him.
Police picked up Nicky Pryde Nahas II, of 15112 Arum Place, following a traffic stop at the corner of Delaware Drive and Blackburn Road in Woodbridge on Monday evening, police said.
Nahas, who was driving on a suspended license and wanted for the same offense in Chesterfield County, had bags of marijuana in his car. Police also found a necklace, which was stolen in a burglary on May 16, in his pocket.
Pryde was held in lieu of a $2,500 bond on charges of possession with the intent of marijuana, $10,000 on the possession of stolen goods and driving on suspended license and held without bond for not appearing for the Chesterfield County charge.
Boy tells school officials stranger offered him ride
A “suspicious person” tried to talk a 13-year-old boy to get into his car while the child was walking to school at the corner of Kilbane and Kingsman roads Monday morning, Prince William County police said Tuesday.
The man asked several times if the boy wanted a ride.
When the victim got to the school, he notified administrators and parents, police said.
The man was described as black, between 40 and 45 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds. He wore a black long-sleeved shirt.
Missing Dumfries man found in California
Jerry Matali Bashizi, a 23-year-old Dumfries man who was reported missing last week, has been located in California, Prince William County police said Tuesday.
Wallet, diaper bag stolen from man in Woodbridge
Two men stole a wallet and a diaper bag from a 20-year-old man in the 1300 block of Bayside Avenue in Woodbridge on April 3, Prince William County police said Tuesday.
One of the thieves is described as black, 6 feet tall, and weighing 185 pounds with dredlocks and a small scratch under his right eye; the other was white, between the ages of 20 and 35, 6 feet tall with a medium build and a chipped front tooth.
Nursery broken into early Monday morning
Trespassers broke into Meadows Farms Nurseries at 14135 Jefferson Davis Highway in Woodbridge early Monday morning, but took nothing, Prince William County police said Tuesday.
Those responsible pried open a door, police said.
Electronics stolen from Woodbridge home
Someone stole a watch, a calculator, a digital camera and cash from a home in the 3500 block of Nexus Court in Woodbridge Monday, Prince William County police said Tuesday.
The thieves, who broke in through a kitchen window, took $645 worth of property, police said.
Air compressor, radio stolen from Dale City home
Burglars stole an air compressor from a garage and took a radio from the car parked inside of it at a home in the 14400 block of Hereford Road in Dale City sometime between Saturday and Monday, Prince William County police said Tuesday.
Entry was gained by the intruders, who took about $800 worth of goods, through a back door that was left open, police said.
Electronics store vandalized last week
Platinum Micro Electronics at 7237 Nathan Court north of Coverstone was broken into sometime Thursday or Friday, Prince William County police said Tuesday.
Someone pried open the front door lock and damaged the interior of the building, but took nothing, police said.
