John Jackson, acclaimed performer of Appalachian-style folk

and blues music, will make another appearance at the Central Library, 8601

Mathis Ave on March 8.

Jackson always draws a full house to his entertaining shows at the library.

He has recorded for Arhoolie, Rounder and Alligator Records and is a

past National Heritage honoree.

Lovers of his traditional American music can call 703 361-8211 for free

tickets. The show begins at 7 p.m. in the community room.

Jim Adams, curator of the Herb Garden at the National Arboretum in Washington

will give a talk on “Raising Herbs to New Heights”Library on Tuesday

at Bull Run Library. It’s also free.

 

End of the season

The final show of the season for the Magic Window will be March 10 when

children can view “The Rain Forest” and why it must be saved.

The 10 a.m. performance by the Creative Opera Ensemble will be at 10

at the Cramer Center in Manassas. Tickets at the door are $5 per person

Job Fair

The Prince William County Park Authority will hold a Job Fair at the

Administration Building on March 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Anyone looking for a summer job is invited to the Fair. There are a

variety of job available from camps to golf courses and from pool to marinas

throughout the county.

Youth must be 14 or older to become employed.

 

Now casting…

Gar-Field High school is presenting “The Cast of Beatlemania”

on March 10 at the school on Smoketown Rd. The show features members of

the original Broadway Cast of Beatlemania. Tickets are $15, $20 and $25

and can be purchased at Replay Records in Wood and Stafford.

Starving artists

The Prince William Art Society is presenting its third annual “Starving

Artist Show April” 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Canterbury Woods Community

Center in Lake Ridge.

The Society is urging all artists in the community to participate in

the show. The show will consist of works of local artists and most will

be priced under $50. The proceeds will support Society activities. For more
