Forest Park field hockey wins its first game

HERNDON — Christina Pybus scored her first career goal and Janelle Richardson delivered on a penalty stroke as the Forest Park field hockey team earned its first win of the season Saturday at the Herndon Invitational.

Pybus, called up from the junior varsity squad to play in the tournament, put the Bruins ahead in a 2-0 victory over Osbourn Park. Richardson produced the first penalty stoke goal of her career to finish it off. Amanda Meiklejohn earned the shutout in goal.

Forest Park played four games and finished 1-3 with losses to St. Catherine’s (3-0), Fairfax (3-1) and South Lakes (4-1).
