Player to watch: Six-foot-1 senior forward Jamel Moore will be counted on from the outset with this Eagles’ team. He played a major role as Osbourn beat Stonewall and took Potomac to overtime in the 2002 district tournament.

Player to watch: Six-foot-3 junior guard James Broderick, who joined the Osbourn Park varsity team last December after starting the year at the junior varsity level, has improved to the point where he’s a key part of the Yellow Jackets’ outside game. He’s a threat from 3-point range. Key losses: F Ian Sumers (area player of the year, first-team all-district, 14.5 ppg), F Eric Sidberry (12.3 ppg), G Gary Price (now playing football at VMI)

Player to watch: Jason Flagler, a 6-4 junior forward, was the Panthers’ most explosive wing player last season. The first-team all-district and all-region choice averaged 14.8 ppg. He is rated the 16th best junior in the state by VirginiaPreps.com.

Other key returners: F Tyrell Freeman (6-4, sr.); G Reggie Rodriguez (5-7, sr.); G Bryan Butler (5-10, jr., 13.9 ppg)

Stonewall Jackson

How season ended: Lost to Osbourn 56-37 in district tournament first round

Coach: Marcus Lawrence (Third year, 10-34 career record)

Key losses: G Sean Russell (12.0 ppg, second-team all-district), F Doug Gernat

Player to watch: Tyc Snow, a 5-foot-7 senior point guard, missed much of the preseason with a bruised foot. When healthy, he has the ability to run the Raiders’ offense or to score points in bunches. Snow (12.2 ppg) was a first-team all-district player in 2001-02.

Other key returners: G Onyie Onunaku (6-4, sr.); F-C Corey Wheeler (6-3, sr.); G Adam Woodward (6-0, jr.); F Christopher Mpembele (6-1, jr.)
