Massanutten Resort

At Massanutten Resort, not all of the downhill thrills are on the ski slope this winter. An indoor water park, which opened midseason last year, offers a chance to ride the surf on Virginia’s only FlowRider. Just as with ocean surfing, no two rides are exactly alike. Body slides, tube slides, river rapids, a fortress with water cannons and a giant tipping bucket are among the other attractions.

“After your day of skiing, you can go play in the water park,” said spokesman Joe Grandstaff.

On the slopes, he said, “We’ve added new snowguns and stuff like that. We continue to improve and maintain. It’s good Southern skiing.”
