Manassas Journal Messenger | Motorcyclist identified in fatal wreck
A witness to the motorcycle accident that killed a man on Saturday said the driver of a minivan was passing other vehicles on Va. 28 long before he drove straight into the path of another vehicle.
A 51-year old Warrenton man is dead and another man has been charged with reckless driving in connection with the gruesome head-on collision in Nokesville on Saturday.
Police said a 25-year-old man driving a 2000 Nissan Quest was passing vehicles on Va. 28 when he drove head on into the path of Thomas John Harley, 51, who was riding on a 2000 Harley Davidson Softail motorcycle.
Harley, of Warrenton, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William County police spokeswoman.
Anis Idrissa Kabia, 25, of Culpeper, was charged with reckless driving, Hernandez said. The Commonwealth’s Attorney is expected to examine the case further.
Kabia was released on a summons and his court date is Nov. 28.
John Newman, who was heading northbound in a vehicle driven by his brother, saw Kabia pass them in Fauquier County.
Newman said his brother pulled over to let the minivan, which was riding his bumper, pass, Newman said in an email.
Newman said he saw the minivan attempt to pass more vehicles at the crest of a hill heading northbound in the southbound lanes. He said at least four witnesses gave police their accounts of what happened that afternoon.
Police closed Va. 28 in both directions for an hour and a half Saturday to investigate the 4:25 p.m.crash.
