A 20-year-old Dumfries man tried to fight a police officer after he was asked to leave a Triangle hotel early Sunday morning, Prince William County police said.
Michael D. Jackson, of 3642 Morgan Court was in the lobby of Best Value Inn and Suites after checking out of the hotel around 2:25 a.m. when management asked him to leave, said Officer John Bogert, department spokesman.
Jackson refused and hotel management called police, who arrested Jackson after management asked him to leave again in the officers’ presence, police said.
Officers tried to place Jackson under arrested, but he refused and a small fight ensued before Jackson was detained, police said.
Jackson was charged with two counts of assault and battery on a police officer and one count of trespassing, police said.
Everlyn J. Sims, 19, of 3011 Sigel Court in Dumfries, was charged with impeding police after she tried to stop the officers from arresting Jackson, police said.
Bogert did not know why Jackson was checking out of the hotel early in the morning or why he refused to leave the lobby.
