Manassas Journal Messenger | Man critically injured in car accident

A 59-year-old man was in critical condition Friday night after a devastating T-bone crash at the intersection of Bluefin Drive and Minnieville Road in Dale City, just north of Dale Boulevard, on Friday afternoon, Prince William police said.

A Dodge Ram was headed south on Minnieville when it came upon the light at the thoroughfare’s intersection with Bluefin Drive, where it went through a red light, said 1st Sgt. Kim Chinn, Prince William police spokeswoman.

The Ram’s driver, whose name was unavailable, looked away from the light, which was green as he approached the intersection, Chinn said. When he looked back the light was yellow and turned red, Chinn said.

The driver, a 27-year-old Dale City man, saw the light, but couldn’t stop in time, according to police.

The Ram hit a small purple Saturn coupe making a left onto Minnieville’s northbound lanes, Chinn said.

The coupe’s driver was trapped inside.

Firefighters had to cut the roof from the car to extricate the man, who was flown to Fairfax hospital by a MedStar helicopter, which landed in the parking lot of a nearby Christian School on Minnieville Road.

The victim’s most recent condition was unavailable at press time.
