Ex-Hylton star faces drug charge

University of Virginia linebacker Ahmad Brooks, a C.D. Hylton High School graduate, was arrested on May 17 and charged with marijuana possession, a Roanoke TV station reported Thursday.

WDBJ reported that Brooks will face a July 29 court date in Prince William General District Court. The station also reported that the charge was a misdemeanor.

Brooks could not be reached for comment Thursday night. The Prince William County police department could not be reached for comment, and a spokesman for U.Va. also could not be reached.

Brooks graduated from Hylton in 2001. During his senior season as a Bulldog, he was named USA Today’s National Defensive Player of the Year. After graduating from Hylton, he attended Fork Union Military Academy before enrolling at U.Va. in January.

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Brooks was the only true freshman to play in the Cavaliers’ spring game and finished with five tackles, two sacks and three tackles for loss.
