Fay, Swales capture VBQ titles

Dawn Fay of Manassas, Va., earned her seventh career Open Division title and Becky Swales of Hollywood, Md., garnered her eighth career Senior Division title when they won their respective events in the Virginia Bowling Queens Tournament hosted by King Pin Lanes, Midlothian, Va., March 29-30.

The tournament was sponsored by King Pin Lanes and King Pin Lanes Pro Shop.

Fay was presented the Open Division first place check worth $600 and a VBQ Champions Plaque. Fay averaged 232 for the 16-game event when she compiled a total pinfall of 3,715. Fay’s 4-game sets were 248-177-214-199; 268-214-248-202; 228-259-235-268; and 237-226-244-248.

Swales was given the $400 Senior Division first place prize and a VBQ Champions Plaque. Swales recorded a 207 average for the 16-game event, finishing with a total pinfall of 3,315. Swales’ 4-game sets consisted of 210-204-189-279; 197-183-168-194; 211-236-201-201; and 258-215-167-202.

2003 NCABA HALL OF FAMENOMINATIONS DUE

All members of the Nation’s Capital Area Bowling Association have the privilege of nominating an individual for election to the NCABA Hall of Fame.

Nominations, open to all bowlers and non-bowlers, must be submitted in a one-page letter containing the full name of the nominee, the category (Meritorious Service or Bowling Achievement) for which the canidate is nominated, their background and reason for nomination.

? Meritorious Service: Pro-motion that created growth of the game; obtained recognition of the game; promoted public acceptance of the game; or for service to the bowlers.

? Bowling Achievement: Bowl-ing achievement and image.

The nominating letter must be signed and received no later than May 1 by the NCABA Hall of Fame Committee, 4710 Auth Place, Suite 465, Camp Springs, Md., 20746-4202, to be considered in the current year.
