Pandak leads the way in fundraising
Candidates for seats on the Prince William Board of County Supervisors have raised nearly half a million dollars in combined campaign money.
Democrat Sharon E. Pandak, who is running against Prince William Chairman Corey A. Stewart, R-at large, has raised $136,746, the most of anyone running.
Stewart has raised $92,770.
According to the Virginia Public Access Project, a non-profit, non-partisan organization that tracks money in Virginia politics, Pandak has received $35,300 from the real estate and construction industry while Stewart received $30,340 from the real estate and construction industry,
The access project gets its statistics from information filed with local election offices.
According to the latest figures filed on Aug. 31, Stewart has spent $54,382 since last year’s special election when he and Pandak ran against each other to replace former Prince William Chairman Sean T. Connaughton.
Pandak has spent $99,904, according the the organization’s Web site at vpap.org.
Pandak’s largest contributor was the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association which donated $10,000.
Of Pandak’s most recent campaign contributors, three private donors each gave $5,000.
Prince William Commonwealth’s Attorney, Paul Ebert gave Pandak $3,600.
Sixty-seven percent of Pandak’s money came from contributions of more than $500.
Stewart’s largest contributors include attorneys and law firms which have donated $7,500 and real estate developers which donated $7,000.
Stewart also received $5,000 from Potomac Nationals Baseball and $2,500 from Tim’s Rivershore Restaurant.
Seventy-five percent of Stewart’s 94 contributors gave more than $500.
Frank J. Principi has raised $61,743 in the race for the Woodbridge District seat which will be vacated when Supervisor Hilda M. Barg, D-Woodbridge retires at the end of her current term.
Principi’s total is more than twice the amount his three opponents have raised together.
Principi, a Democrat, got $12,000 from Friends of Barg-Hilda for Supervisor, $1,000 from Friends of Jenkins-John for Supervisor and $1,000 from Friends of Puller-Linda for Senate.
Chris Royse, the Republican on the ticket for the Woodbridge District seat, has raised $16,255.
Royse has $5,571 on hand and Principi has $5,656 on hand.
Independents Steve Keen and Luis Ramirez have raised $9,156 and $100 respectively.
Democrat Corey R. Riley who is running against John T. Stirrup, R-Gainesville, has raised $20,764 while Stirrup has raised $53,624.
Stirrup has so far spent $33,489 and Riley has spent $6,014.
Michael C. May, R-Occoquan, faces independent John Gray. May has raised $13,097 and has $9,781 on hand while Gray has raised $7,552 and has $6,887 on hand.
