Manassas Journal Messenger | Sudley man dies in motorcycle crash

A 35-year-old Sudley area man died in a motorcycle accident on Old Bridge Road near Occoquan Road at 9:31 a.m. Wednesday, said 1st Sgt. Kim Chinn, Prince William police spokeswoman.

Robert A Wood, 35, of 9800 Cisler Lane, was riding north on Old Bridge Road when he lost control of his motorcycle in a curve between Occoquan Road and Elysian Drive and slid into a guard rail, Chinn said.

Wood was taken to Potomac Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Chinn said.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident, Chinn said.

The investigation continues, but police do not believe that speed was a factor in the accident, Chinn said.

People in Wood’s old neighborhood on Quayle Court said they were “devastated” by the news of his death.

They weren’t surprised that Wood, who they said was a nice guy, was out riding Wednesday.

“He loved that motorcycle,” said neighbor Susie Hartman.

“He would sit in his carport and work on that motorcycle all the time,” said Buffy Christensen.

Wood had his 2005 Honda Shadow motorcycle for about a year, Christensen said.
