Manassas Journal Messenger | Man charged in rape of Triangle woman

A 34-year-old man allegedly broke into the home of a Triangle woman with whom he is acquainted and raped her early Sunday morning, Prince William County police said.

Police charged Troy Crowder, of no fixed address, with rape, and other charges may be filed, said 1st Sgt. Kim Chinn, police spokeswoman. He is being held in the Prince William-Manassas regional jail without bond.

Crowder allegedly broke into the apartment in the 18000 block of Graham Court between 4 and 5 a.m., police said.

The victim was asleep and Crowder allegedly raped her before running off, police said.

He turned himself in to police Tuesday.

The incident is the first rape that Prince William County police reported this year.

There were 27 reported rapes in Prince William County in 2004.
