Searching the family tree …

Have you thought about publishing your family history but have not been sure exactly what’s involved or how to go about it?

Anyone interested can learn from an expert in the fields of research and publishing at a genealogy workshop at Bull Run Regional Library on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Program presenter Craig Roberts Scott is a certified genealogical records specialist and the CEO and president of Heritage Books Inc., a genealogical publishing firm with more than 2,600 titles in print located in Westminster, Md.

The bookstore division, Willow Bend Books, is the largest genealogy bookstore in the world.

A professional genealogical and historical researcher for more than 19 years, Scott is the current president of the Association of One-Name Studies and was the Clan Scott Genealogist.

The program is a session of the Genealogy Research Users Group, a monthly meeting organized for the family historian.

The group is sponsored by the Ruth E. Lloyd Information Center for Genealogy and Local History, a department of the Prince William Public Library System, and supported by the Friends of the Central and Bull Run Libraries.

To register for the free program, stop by the library at 8051 Ashton Ave., Manassas.

A free career workshop, “What Do You Really Want To Do With Your Life?” will be offered at Central Community Library for people in any stage of their working lives who are ready to make these important decisions. Career consultant David Jerge will help participants determine lifetime goals, consider motives for choices, and develop future career strategies.

The workshop will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. To register or for more information, contact the library at (703) 361-8211.

Ballroom dancing is popular again.

The library’s own “Fred and Ginger” will demonstrate the basic steps used in dances like the waltz, fox trot, rumba and others, and will offer suggestions on where to go for classes or dance clubs.

The program will be offered at Bull Run Library on May 1 at 2 p.m. The program is free but registration is required and to reserve a place call (703) 792-4500.

… Shall we dance?
