Two face marijuana charges in separate incidents

• Daryl Herbert Carpenter, 22, of 13708 Langstone Drive in Dale City, was released on a summons for possession of marijuana after being caught trespassing Wednesday evening at Potomac Mills mall, Prince William County police said.

Carpenter was walking in a parking lot around the mall but had previously been prohibited from being near the mall, said Detective Dennis Mangan.

An officer arrested Carpenter around 7 p.m. and during a search found suspected marijuana, police said.

• John Shelton Carter, 22, of 7522 Lake Drive in Fauquier County near Vint Hill, was arrested for possession of marijuana after calling to report a group of suspicious people to police.

Carter called police from his 1995 Ford van Tuesday around 10:50 p.m. to say a group of people were standing in the 8100 block of Pointer Lane in the Sudley area, police said.

Upon arriving, police allegedly found several smoking devices in Carter’s van and smelled alcohol, police said. Carter was held overnight and then released, police said, and is scheduled to appear in court April 22.
