Manassas Journal Messenger | Mourners attend Bryant’s funeral

Hundreds of mourners attended a 1 p.m. funeral and homegoing service for Sgt. Jack Bryant Jr. Wednesday at Star of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Triangle.

The 23-year-old Dale City native was killed by an improvised explosive device Nov. 20 in Muqdadiyah, Iraq. He was on a daily convoy run northeast of Baghdad to drop off supplies and food to remote offensive camps, said his father Jack Bryant, an associate minister at Bethlehem church.

The Hylton High School graduate was remembered by his family, friends and pastor as outgoing and talkative. He always had a smile on his face, the Rev. Charles Ervin said in an interview following his death.

Bryant, who was affectionately called “Jay,” leaves his wife and childhood sweetheart Kiona Monique Lightfoot Bryant and one son, Keshawn James Bryant; his father and mother, the Rev. Jack and Linda Bryant; sisters Denie Robinson and Jennifer Bryant; his grandfather Thomas Bryant and grandmother Dorothy Mae Bryant and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

He will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery at 10 a.m. today.

A trust fund has been set up for his son. Donations may be made at any Bank of America to Keshawn J. Bryant UTMA, account number 0041 3200 4909.
