Red Cross set to host

Second Golf Tournament

The Prince William Chapter of the American Red Cross will host its second Quantico Golf Tournament Oct. 19 at the Medal of Honor Golf Course on the Quantico Marine Corps base.

All players must pre-register and the cost is $500 for a foursome and $150 per individual player. To register call (703) 368-4511, Ext. 227.

All proceeds from the tournament will be used to support the ongoing program of the Red Cross.

Dance company performs ‘Dracula’

The Manassas Dance Company will perform “Dracula” on Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. and Oct. 29 at 5 p.m. The performances will be conducted at Metz Middle School, 9950 Wellington Road, Manassas.

Performances will include all original music composed by Kim Reynolds and performed by his band.

Support group to meet

every third Monday

The Manassas Area Vision Impaired People Support Group will meet on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Park West Lions Club building, 8620 Sunnygate Drive, Manassas.

The group meets the third Monday of each month at the site and offers ideas and resources, as well as fellowship, for adapting to life with considerable vision loss. For more information, call Nancy Cota at (703) 368-1721.

Bethel Arts to present

first concert of season

Bethel Arts will present its first concert of the season on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Bethel Lutheran Church, Manassas.

Admission is free but donations will be accepted.

The program will feature Emil Cheytanov, violin, and Ivelina Cheytanova, piano; Donna Baldwin, piano; and the principal winds of the Nova Manassas Symphony.

Parrish appointed to

Urban Policy Task Force

Harry J. Parrish II, vice mayor of Manassas has been appointed by Gov. Timothy M. Kaine to a newly created Urban Policy Task Force, a Cabinet-level task force that will review economic, social and fiscal conditions in Virginia’s urban areas.

The panel will also develop benchmarks to track the effectiveness of state programs serving residents of urban areas, and recommend approaches that encourage collaboration among localities within Virginia’s metropolitan regions.
