Police briefs for Saturday, Sept. 28
Two men approached a 10-year-old girl walking home from Marumsco Hills Elementary School on Thursday at 3:15 p.m., said Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman, Friday.
The men were in a white van, with crude red spray paint over a peeling door. The passenger asked the girl if she wanted a ride, Mangan said.
Mangan said the man as Hispanic, having long black hair and between 20 and 30 years old.
Manassas man, others charged with larceny
Five people, including a Manassas man, were charged with breaking into trucks early Friday morning, said Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman.
Mangan said police received a report of four people breaking into two tractor-trailers about 2 a.m. Locks were apparently cut off of both trailers and the trucks were entered.
An officer later saw a red 1986 Ford Econoline van with Virginia plates weaving into a traffic lane. The officer stopped the group and a witness to the break-ins identified them as the culprits, Mangan said.
Mangan said the truck locks and stolen property were recovered, in addition to tools valued at several thousands of dollars taken from a truck in the 13900 block of Minnieville Road earlier in the week.
Rafael Antonio Rivera, 26, of 9736 Beech Place, Manassas, and Martin Silverio, 21, of no fixed address, are both being held with no bond.
They are charged with one count of grand larceny, three counts of petty larceny, four counts of destruction of property, one count of possession of burglary tools. In addition, a 16-year-old was charged with forging public documents
A 16-year-old and 17-year-old from Manassas are being held with no bond as well. State law prohibits police from releasing the names of juveniles charged with crimes.
Masked man robs Woodbridge Denny’s
The Denny’s restaurant at 13775 Jefferson Davis Highway in Woodbridge was robbed Friday at 2:53 a.m., said Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman.
A man wearing a ski mask and hooded sweatshirt walked into the establishment and held his hand in his pocket, as though something was there. He demanded money from the 29-year-old victim, never showing what, if anything, was in his pocket.
He took an unknown amount of cash and fled.
Weapons, cash stolen from Marumsco Drive home
Several guns — including a pistol, a rifle and a shotgun — and some cash were stolen from a home in the 13600 block of Marumsco Drive in Woodbridge between Sept. 12 at 4:30 p.m. and Wednesday at 6 p.m., said Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman, on Friday.
Security box, camera swiped from house
A security box with keys and a Panasonic 35 mm camera were stolen Thursday between 5:30 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. from a home in the 2600 block of Fox Glove Court in Woodbridge, said Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman, on Friday.
Gar-Field concessions damaged on Thursday
The Gar-Field High School concession stand near the football field received $500 in damage Thursday between 11:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., said Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman, on Friday.
