Manassas man pleads guilty to sexual offenses
A 37-year-old Manassas man pleaded guilty Thursday to sexually assaulting his former girlfriend’s 10-year-old daughter.
Kevin Robert Reynolds of Manassas was living in the home of the victim and her mother, who was his girlfriend at the time, when the abuse took place. Reynolds was charged with aggravated sexual battery for an April 10 incident, though he admitted to police touching the girl on possibly two other occasions.
Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Jerrold J. Negin recommended three years’ imprisonment, with two years and nine months suspended, contingent upon probation and a sexual offenders’ evaluation and treatment. Negin said that he recommended the low end of sentencing guidelines because the victim and her mother had moved out of the area and the victim was a “very reluctant witness.”
Circuit Court Judge Rossie D. Alston set Reynolds’ sentencing for Jan. 16, saying “This is a very troubling set of circumstances.”
