Planned protests disrupt some OmniRide routes

OmniRide commuter service will be limited today because of major demonstrations scheduled in Washington, D.C., in protest of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund meetings.

Commuters have been warned not to drive into the city because D.C. police expect major traffic delays.

All OmniRide buses will serve Metro stations only. Eastern Prince William routes (Lake Ridge, Dale City, Montclair, U.S. 1/S. U.S. 1 and Prince William Metro Direct) will serve the Franconia-Springfield Metrorail station. Manassas OmniRide and Manassas Metro Direct buses will serve the West Falls Church station (no service to the Vienna Metrorail). For more information, go to http://www.OmniRide.com.

Local OmniLink and Cross County Connector buses are unaffected and will operate on normal schedule.

The planned protests are not expected to affect Virginia Railway Express stations at Union Station and L’Enfant Plaza. VRE advises passengers to expect full parking lots and trains Friday as those who drive or take the bus may try VRE. For more information, go to http://www.vre.org.
