Police investigating another shooting in Md.

A 35-year-old bus driver was shot in the chest in Montgomery County, Md., early Tuesday spawning an immediate, widespread dragnet which clogged traffic on Connecticut Avenue just as the morning commute began.

In a news conference at 12:30pm, Montgomery Co., Md. Chief Charles Moose confirmed that Conrad Johnson died at the hospital as a result of his injuries.

Police area police task force is investigating to see if the shooting is connected to the serial sniper who has killed nine people and injured three others this month.

The shooting occurred near the site of six other sniper attacks.

The shooting was reported at approximately 6 a.m. on a Montgomery County Ride-On bus parked at Grand Pre Road and Connecticut Avenue.

Four to five helicopters were flying over the area and one fixed-wing aircraft circled the crime scene as police searched apartment buildings adjacent to the area.

Johnson was shot as he stood on the second step in the doorway of the bus. He was airlifted via helicopter to a Suburban Hospital trauma center in Bethesda, and was sent immediately to surgery. He died sometime later.
