Two charged in car vandalism

Prince William police have made two arrests in a case of mass tire slashings in a Dale City neighborhood in early September.

The men arrested were also connected to two other crimes, according to Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman.

Kenneth Lavern Milling, 19, of 14300 Lindendale Avenue and Brandon Alaric White, 23, of 6081 Lost Colony Drive in Dale City were arrested Nov. 20 and 25, respectively, for 28 counts of destruction of private property.

The arrests stem from the Sept. 1 case when tires were slashed on dozens of cars parked along Mapledale and Lindendale roads in Dale City.

One neighborhood resident, Bob DeMuth, 55, said in Sept. 5 interview that hundreds of tires were slashed along a 1.6 mile stretch. DeMuth measured the distance with his car. He said some cars had all four tires slashed. The incidents occurred between 11:30 p.m., Sept. 1, and 7:30 a.m., Sept. 2.

Confidential calls to the Prince William Crime Solvers tip-line led investigators to the two men, Mangan said.

The caller’s tip also said that Milling and White were involved in a burglary that occurred between Aug. 6 and Aug. 8 at a home in the 14200 block of Lindendale Road. After the house was broken into, the water was left on at a number of faucets. The home sustained serious damage as a result of sinks overflowing, water-saturated carpets and leaking ceilings.

Milling and White were charged with statutory burglary, grand larceny and destruction of private property related to that burglary.

Police say the men have also been connected to a Sept. 12 robbery that occurred at 4:10 a.m. in the 13700 block of Mapledale Avenue.

A 21-year-old woman was walking along Lindendale when she was assaulted and robbed by Milling and White, Mangan said.

Both men are due in court on Jan. 15.
