Manassas police arrest man suspected of robbing woman in home at gunpoint

MANASSAS — City police arrested a 20-year-old Manassas man who they believe broke into a Massie Street home with a gun and demanded money from its owner before fleeing, Sgt. Marc J. Woolverton, police department spokesman, said in a press release Friday.

Police arrested Ulyses Hernandez, of 10298 Cleary Street, No. 301, Wednesday on charges of burglary while armed, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and attempted robbery, the report said.

Police believe Hernandez was the man who, while wearing a ski mask and armed with a gun, entered a woman’s apartment and demanded money. When her two young children began screaming, the man left without taking anything or injuring anyone, police said.

Hernandez, who formerly lived with the victim’s family and currently lives in the victim’s neighborhood, has been held without bond pending a trial on Feb. 24.
