Manassas police arrest man after report that

he used tear gas on Grant Avenue pedestrians

Police arrested a 44-year-old Manassas man Friday and charged him with felony use of tear gas and being drunk in public, said Dave Lane, Manassas police spokesman.

Two women told police they were followed by a stranger late Wednesday night as they walked to their homes along the 9700 block of Grant Avenue, Lane said.

The women told police that the stranger used vulgar language as he followed them and yanked on of the women’s braids, Lane said.

A man who lived nearby tried to help the women, but the stranger sprayed him and one of the women with pepper spray. The victims complained to police, Lane said.

An investigation of the complaint led Sgt. Meg Carroll and Manassas Police officers Marc Daigle and F. Darren Lawson to Ramon Gonzales-Pedvaza, of 8059 Ashland Ave., Unit 2, Lane said.

Police found Pedvaza about 2 a.m. Friday in the back of a pickup parked in the 9800 block of Buckner Road. The officer found a container of pepper spray in the vehicle, Lane said.

Manassasman reports bottles thrown at house

A 34-year-old Manassas man told police he was on his couch late Thursday night watching television in his home in the 9200 block of Taney Avenue when someone started pelting his house with beer bottles, said Dave Lane, Manassas police spokesman.

The man was unhurt, but the beer bottles broke the glass in the front storm door and two front windows, Lane said.

Stereo equipment stolen from car on Kershaw Court

A Manassas man told police his 1998 Volkswagen Golf was broken into early Friday while it was parked in the 9100 block of Kershaw Court, said Dave Lane, Manassas police spokesman.

The man told police a model KRC-8352 Kenwood car stereo/compact disc player, a Lanzar Optidrive 600 amplifier and four Lanzar Neo 8-inch sub-woofer speakers worth a total of $940 was stolen from the car, Lane said.

Stereo, phone, CDs stolen from car on Taney Avenue

A Manassas man told police that several items were stolen from his 1996 Honda which was parked overnight Thursday in front of his home in the 8300 block of Taney Avenue, said Dave Lane, Manassas police spokesman.

The man told police that 20 compact discs, an Aiwa stereo, a black bag and an Ericsson cell phone, worth a total of $475 was stolen from his car, Lane said.

Police believe entry to the Honda was gained through a partially open window, Lane said.

Manassas man reports 24 CDs stolen from car

A Manassas man told police that his 1996 Honda was broken into while it was parked near his home in the 9000 block of Bonhan Circle on Friday night, said Dave Lane, Manassas police spokesman.

Officers believe the molding around the passenger-side window was removed to facilitate entry to the vehicle, Lane said.

The man told police that 24 compact discs were stolen. There was also an unsuccessful attempt to steal the vehicle’s tachometer, Lane said.

The estimated value of loss and damage to the vehicle was $360, Lane said.
