Police briefs for Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002
A 34-year-old Fairfax County Sheriff’s deputy was arrested and charged with brandishing a firearm following a fight between her daughter, 12, and a 15-year-old girl at Arnica Place and Arrow Court in Manassas on Monday at 6:15 p.m., said Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman, Tuesday.
Mangan said Atricia A. Slaughter, of 15000 Calla Court in Woodbridge, took her gun and her badge out after she tried to get to her daughter after the fight and a group of kids surrounded her car.
No bond or court information was available Tuesday.
Armed man steals beer from gas station
A man robbed an Exxon station at 1441 Jefferson Davis Highway at 4 p.m. Monday, said Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman, Tuesday.
Mangan said Luis Marvin Hernandez, 23, who has no fixed address, came in and took a 12-pack of beer after lifting his shirt and showing the 32-year-old female clerk what she said was a handgun.
He is being held with no bond.
Men beaten after hitting golf balls astray
Two men, 23 and 21, were beaten by a group of four men after the 21-year-old hit his golf ball onto the other men’s fairway at the Bristow Manner Golf Course at 11056 Valley View Drive in Manassas Sunday at 6:20 p.m., said Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman, Tuesday.
The 21-year-old was beaten with a golf club.
Mangan said the men left in two vehicles: a black Saturn View with Virginia plates and a black Chevy Impala with Maryland plates.
They were all white and were wearing golf shirts at the time of the assault.
Cameras stolen from Fox Glove Court home
A home in the 14600 block of Fox Glove Court was burglarized Thursday between 5:30 a.m. and 3:15 p.m., said Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman, Tuesday.
Cameras valued at $900 were stolen. There were pry marks on the rear sliding glass door.
Cash stolen from Gainesville business
Rear double doors were pried open and $1,500 in cash was stolen Sept. 25 from Suburban Propane in Gainesville, said Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman, Tuesday.
Purse stolen from Manassas home
A woman’s purse was taken from her home in the 10500 block of Lariat Lane in Manassas around 3:30 p.m. Sept. 25, said Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman, Tuesday.
Mangan said the woman went to the bus stop to pick up her children. When she returned, the purse she left on the counter was gone.
Vehicles vandalized at Honda dealership
Fourteen vehicles were broken into between 11 p.m. Monday, and 1:40 a.m. Tuesday at the Hendricks Honda dealership at 13021 Jefferson Davis Highway, said Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman, Tuesday.
Mangan said five stereos were missing. Windows on 10 vehicles were smashed and four were entered with no force.
Electronics stolen from Ramada Inn
Videos, a TV/VCR combo and other items were stolen from a car parked at the Ramada Inn in Dumfries on Industry Court between 4 p.m. Saturday, and 5:30 a.m. Monday, said Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police spokesman, Tuesday.
